yfood is your smart nutrition solution. We offer a great range of well-balanced products which fill you up and are incredibly tasty too. Our nutritionists and food technologists select the ingredients with great care. All our products have a complete nutrient profile with proteins, vegetable fats, carbohydrates and fibre, as well as vitamins and minerals. To give you an idea of exactly what is included in our products, we have listed and explained all the ingredients below.

Drinks

Classic Drinks

Skimmed milk

Cow's milk naturally contains numerous nutrients. In addition to proteins, for example, it has vitamins A, D, E, K, thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), folic acid and cobalamin (B12). It also contains calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iodine and zinc.¹ The fat contained in the milk really enhances the flavour of our drinks as well as making it easier for you to absorb the fat-soluble vitamins.

For our Classic Drinks, we only use milk with a fat content of 1.5%, sourced from Germany, the Austrian mountain area and neighbouring regions.

Milk protein

Milk protein has one of the highest PDCAA scores – a key figure used in nutrition science to assess the quality and digestibility of protein². Unlike many other proteins, it provides the human body with all the essential amino acids¹ and gives our yfood Classic Drinks a pleasantly milky taste.

Rapeseed oil

Rapeseed oil is extracted from the rapeseed plant, which is mainly grown in Germany, providing a sustainable, high-quality oil. Because it is taste-neutral, it can be used in many ways in food production. In yfood Drinks, rapeseed oil serves as an important energy source and a natural source of vitamins A, E and K

Sunflower oil

Sunflower oil is extracted from the seeds of sunflowers. It is taste-neutral and therefore versatile. In yfood Drinks, sunflower oil serves as an important energy source and a natural source of vitamins A, E and K

Coconut milk

Coconut milk is produced by pressing the flesh of ripe coconuts. It is an important flavouring ingredient in all our yfood Drinks and It is also a good source of fat and carbohydrates for energy.

Gluten-free oat fibre

Oats are a very nutritious cereal. We use the indigestible part of oat fibre in our drinks. It is mainly composed of the dietary fibre β-glucan and hemicellulose. Fibre binds water, which leads to expanding and therefore can cause a satiety effect.

The German Society for Nutrition recommends a daily intake of at least 30 g of fibre for adults. A yfood Classic Drink (500 kcal) contains at least 7.5 g of fibre, some of which comes from the oat fibres.

By the way, we use exclusively gluten-free oat fibre in our products. We carry out regular laboratory tests to ensure there is no gluten contamination from other cereals. This ensures that the gluten content stays below the detectable level of 20 mg/ kg, so you can enjoy our yfood products even if you have a gluten intolerance.

Soluble corn fibre

Soluble corn fibre is produced from corn starch. In our yfood Drinks, it serves as a taste-neutral source of carbohydrate and fibre.

By the way, soluble corn fibre is naturally gluten-free, so you can enjoy our yfood products even if you have a gluten intolerance.

Rice powder (rice flour, rice starch, rice syrup)

Rice powder is a mixture of rice flour, rice starch and dried rice syrup. As a source of carbohydrate, rice powder provides a constant supply of energy and gives our yfood Drinks their sweet taste.

Vitamins

Our body cannot produce vitamins on its own. This means we have to regularly ingest them with our food. Although we only need them in small amounts, vitamins are essential for our health, metabolic processes and bodily functions.

We use a vitamin mix to add vitamins that are not naturally contained in the ingredients of our products. All our yfood Drinks contain 13 vitamins. A 500 ml portion contains at least 25% of the recommended daily vitamin intake for an average adult (8400 kj/ 2000 kcal).

Minerals

Minerals are vital micronutrients. Among other things, they maintain bone structure, transport oxygen, support nerve and muscle function and maintain hormone levels.

We add the minerals which are not naturally contained in the ingredients of our products via a mineral mixture. All our yfood Drinks contain 13 minerals. A 500 ml portion contains at least 25% of the daily recommended mineral intake for an average adult (8400 kj/ 2000 kcal).

Emulsifier: Lecithins

Lecithins belong to the nutrient group of lipids. They are naturally found in foods such as eggs, sunflower seeds and soy.

In our yfood Drinks, they help dissolve non-miscible substances such as milk and vegetable oils. The lecithins used in our Classic Drinks come from sunflower seeds, so you can drink them even if you have a soy allergy. We use soy lecithins in our Vegan Drinks.

Maltodextrin

Maltodextrin is a multi-chain carbohydrate derived from vegetable starch. We use it in small amounts as a source of carbohydrate because it is easily soluble. It is used to supply energy, not for sweetening.

For a more detailed classification of maltodextrin: Maltodextrin is a carbohydrate. All carbohydrates are made up of different sugar building blocks that are linked together to form chains of different lengths. When we eat food containing carbohydrates, our body splits up the chains back into individual sugar molecules. The sugar molecule glucose can then enter the bloodstream.

The important thing for you, is how quickly this happens – how quickly your blood sugar levels increase. Of course, this always depends on how all the ingredients behave in combination with one another. The glycaemic index provides this information. We have had the glycaemic index of our yfood Classic Drinks scientifically calculated to eliminate the chance of metabolic stress triggered by a sharp increase in blood sugar due to maltodextrin. The low glycaemic index of just 32 can be attributed to the balanced macronutrient profile with a high protein and fibre content.

Sweetener: Sucralose

Sucralose is a sweetener with a sweetening power 500 times higher than that of household sugar. That's why we only need very small amounts of it to make our yfood Drinks pleasantly sweet. Plus, sucralose is calorie-free and can't cause tooth decay.

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has rated sucralose as safe. The quantities we use are also far below the prescribed maximum values.

Sweetener: Acesulfame K

Acesulfame K is a sweetener with a sweetening power 200 times higher than that of household sugar. That's why we only very small amounts of it to make our yfood Drinks pleasantly sweet. Plus, acesulfame K is calorie-free and can't cause tooth decay.

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has rated acesulfame K as safe. We only use it in the yfood Classic Choco Drink – and the amounts we use are far below the prescribed maximum levels.

Stabilisers: Gellan gum

Gellan gum is a plant-based long-chain carbohydrate (polysaccharide) produced by fermentation. Thanks to its water-binding properties, gellan gum is used as a thickener and stabiliser – it makes our yfood Drinks creamier.

Stabilisers: Processed Eucheuma (seaweed algae)

The Eucheuma seaweed algae is a red algae consisting of long-chain carbohydrates (polysaccharides). Because of its chemical structure, in its processed state, Eucheuma algae can be used to thicken and stabilise the texture of liquid foods. We use this ingredient to make our yfood Drinks creamier.

Stabilisers: Carrageenan

Carrageenan describes a group of long-chain carbohydrates (polysaccharides). It is extracted from the cells of various algae. Because they bind water, they can create and improve the consistency of food. We only use carrageenan in the yfood Classic Choco Drink to make it creamier.

Lactase

Lactose is a natural part of milk and the technical term for milk sugar. In the intestine, the lactase enzyme breaks down the lactose contained in milk into two simple sugars: glucose and galactose. This process may be affected by a lactase deficiency. So that you can still enjoy our yfood Classic Drinks even if you have a lactose intolerance, our product is lactose-free – with a content of less than 0.01 g per 100 ml drink.

We do this by adding the lactase during the production process and thereby releasing the simple sugars. Lactase has a stronger sweetening power than lactose, which gives our yfood Drinks their lovely sweet taste. These natural milk sugars make up the majority of the “sugar content” we declare in the nutrition table.

Natural flavourings

Flavourings have been used for centuries and give our food its special smell and taste. They are often formed by specific preparation, processing, heating or ripening.

We use only natural flavourings in our yfood Classic Drinks to guarantee their consistent and well-rounded signature taste.

Fat-free cocoa

Cocoa powder comes from the seeds and flesh of cocoa fruits. In the first step of fermentation, enzymatic reactions release substances which, after roasting, contribute to the aromatic taste of chocolate. After drying and cleaning, the beans are peeled and ground.

The pressing process removes the fat, producing a low-fat cocoa powder, which enhances many yfood Drinks (such as Classic Choco and Cold-Brew Coffee) with its chocolatey note.

Coffee extract 1.8% (water, coffee arabica)

Coffee extract is the concentrated, ground part of the roasted bean. It contains all the soluble nutrients and secondary plant substances of the coffee bean.¹ The coffee extract, made from coffea arabica and water, gives our yfood Cold-Brew Coffee Drink a delightful coffee note and provides a natural source of caffeine (20 mg/ 100 ml).

Dried mango 0.2%

Our body cannot produce vitamins on its own. This means we have to regularly ingest them with our food. Although we only need them in small amounts, vitamins are essential for our health, metabolic processes and bodily functions.

We use a vitamin mix to add vitamins that are not naturally contained in the ingredients of our products. All our yfood Shakes contain 13 vitamins. A prepared potion of 400 ml provides at least 30% of the recommended daily vitamin intake for an average adult (8400 kj/ 2000 kcal).
